In this workshop the Academic Method will be explained based on the technique of the 19th century classic realist Master Charles Bargue. We will begin with the explanation of the measurement from life of the subject to be reproduced with oil up to the use of colors and the production of the Life Portrait.

saturday 17-19, sunday 10-19
In this workshop the Academic Method will be explained using the method of the nineteenth-century classic realist master Charles Bargue. A French painter and lithographer, Bargue has developed a drawing path composed of 197 lithographic plates based on plaster casts, drawings of masters and models from life. “Cours de Dessin” by Bargue, published in 1860, has been widely used in French Academies and State Schools to prepare aspiring artists. It was designed to teach classical methods of portrait and drawing of figures, following the students through steps necessary to understand and produce the Human Body and all that surrounds it;
this method is applicable to the design of anything, including Nature, Objects, etc …
SATURDAY POM: explanation of the measurement method of the subject from the truth; setting the drawing on the panel; the drafting of the shadows will start. The Zorn Limited Palette will be used
SUNDAY: explanation of the Palette and the perception of colors from the True with all its difficulties such as the observation of colors and shades from the truth, much more complicated than the photograph but just as feasible!
The Workshop is dedicated both to beginners who are approaching for the first time to the Portrait of the True and for the Professionals who instead want to deepen the technique “Alla Prima” dal Vero. Being the closed number class the teacher will have the opportunity to follow all the levels giving advice or explanations based on their background. It is recommended to be at least 17 years old (prior to interview with parents).
